Con-Tru-versy: Attraction Versus Justice

Posted on Feb 28th, 2007 by Tru : Visionaire Tru
The premise that "like attracts like" sounds attractive enough, primarily to those who need such concepts to perceive growth and prosperity. But more likely, as many others here at Zaadz have concluded, it feeds into the narcissistic pool. (See Julian's blog)

Yet, is it really a law when opposites are seen attracting just as much if not more? Even magnets attract opposite poles, which creates a magnetic field. Poverty is attracted to riches. Water is attracted to heat. There are various examples to make the case. And, frankly, most people in support of "The Secret" seem to utterly ignore such vast anomalies.

How many of us know of opposites attracting? There have even been songs on the subject observing how opposites attract. Especially in relationships.

Its my hope many will remain awake to the obvious thats hidden. Things being in plain sight
that get taken for granted. Even most scientists withold intrigue with this LoA claim. Rightly so. Besides, there is much to be exploited by the LoA. And it could a very dangerous reality in some minds. LoA itself doesn't mean everyone will be in sync on how to use the concept.

But its a relief that despite the bandwagon being formed with this concept of "Law of Attraction" that the majority are yet reserving acceptance. Surely they, too, notice the peculiarity of evidence present on the variations of attraction. Such variations that like attracts like is nullified.

However if it was so, there being a LoA, then where does justice fit in? It doesn't. People who experience discomfort or tribulation brought it upon themselves and therefore are being served as they have desired within. You know, like attracting like.

So (for those who believe in such a law) justice isn't even an applicable idea or truth. You bring upon yourself all that happens to you. Which, again, would solicit the reality that for whatever reason Gandhi brought his murder upon himself. Likewise, Buddha actually poisoned himself, by attacting his demise. And even Jesus somehow, out of all the good and healing he brought to people, attracted an ill fated experience by being tortured to death. And this is just the tip of the great ice berg of paradoxes in the spiritual realm.

So deep inside, all of these so called "teachers" where really dwelling on negative energy? Really? Law of Attraction, like attracting like?

And its funny how no one is eager to address these BIG potholes in the so called LoA. Where is the acknowledgement of such things?

Personally, justice has its presence experienced and injustice has its experience present. It really comes across insensative when such rhetoric as The Secret is convenient for privileged people. But sorely inconvenient for the unprivileged. 'The Secret' doesn't do any justice to life's mysteries nor histories.

And if I'm noticing someone being harmed in public, the LoA isn't going to guide my reaction. Especially since it would have me believe the person is attracting their
own harm. Rather, I'll know how humans are capable of being accountable for their own actions and chose to assist my fellow earthling as appropriate.

Spirituality in large (not total) portion, less we forget, is suppose to be about living without attactment to things. Especially material things. And how "The Secret" focuses on material gain is a marvel. Is it not?

Surely Jesus is grinning on this one.

I do wonder how much one’s opinion has to play in this whole opposite and positive theory. positive to one isn’t necessarily opposite to another, but it can be different. Perhaps LeChatelier’s pricinples of chemistry apply here: What ever stress that is imposed on a system is counterbalanced by that system in an attempt to achieve equilibrium. Perhaps this positive and negative idea or the LoA is simply another way of looking at life coming to equilibrium with our actions, almost like an action reaction model. You steal (negative) so you know have money (positive) but you get caught days later (negative but in the end you learn a lesson (positive) and in the end everything is neutral. life bounces back and forth between extremes which in the end, concludes with a pleasent middle of neutrality. i hope that applies to the subject… I’m pretty sure i hit something right on the head…I just hope it was the right nail…

Food for thought,
Carl

I agree with that, to the limited extent it happens. It is not definitive. Big potholes still there.

In the world there are actually many who've stolen and yet thrive without consquences. No set “law” is constant even with the activity of stealing. Objective observation is a fun activity. :)

In discussions with various people, we are afforded the opportunity to gauge what happens with others. From such discussions, global news, schooling, nature and our personal experience, the variations of attraction are evident.

Yes, some can get away with stealing but the principle is the same.  Eventually their Karma will catch up with them.  “You reap what you sew.”  or someone else will betray them “Do unto others as you would have done to you.”  Whatever systematic dogma you want to use, the knife of fate will always be just sharp enough to cut the butter of your faults.  At least that's what i've seen.  Even if it doesn't happen in life, punishment, or attonement could happen elsewhere.  Who knows what's out there but i'm still a firm believer that things equal out in the end.

A wandering mind with a broken leash,

Yes, there is an equalizing and there is an end. But how it happens is out of the jurisdiction of commercial concepts such as “Law of Attraction”.

Interestingly, those two quotes from the bible you mentioned directly stem from accountability with God. It makes clear the reaping is from God's judgement, not karma. And the 'Do unto others as you'd have to you' is for the type of judgement one wishes from God at his appointed time, not karma. Choices determine outcomes, not karma.

And often times forgiveness is inacted and no damaging consequences are experienced by the initial offender. Again, from this we see there is no 'like attracts like' involved.

A mind (never on a leash) roaming free for years,

I guess there is just no winning.  Then you're going to tell me that winning isn't the point and i'll feel even more behind the curve =)

Thanks for openning my eyes Tru

I accept my loss, and a smile. Because its a defeat for me if you perceive any loss. A true win is that we all gain the insight to break free of so many human theories and live life.

We were sharing our experiences. Who wins at that? Besides, we were in agreement if you notice the start of my responses. You spoke truth. And I spoke of what happens, too. :)
