Con-Tru-versy Series: Law of Attraction

After seeing an episode of Oprah, and visiting the website in addition to reading comments and
blog entries on the subject. "The Secret", as its called, is up for a visit from my fire.
The website claims: "The Great Secret of the universe. It has been passed throughout the ages, traveling through centuries... to reach you and humankind.
This is The Secret to everything - the secret to unlimited joy, health, money, relationships, love, youth: everything you have ever wanted.
In this astonishing program are ALL the resources you will ever need to understand and live The Secret. For the first time in history, the world's leading scientists, authors, and philosophers will reveal The Secret that utterly transformed the lives of every person who ever knew it... Plato, Newton, Carnegie, Beethoven, Shakespeare, Einstein.
Now YOU will know The Secret. And it could change your life forever."
Many of you have already drawn attention to the claim: "For the first time in history", and dispelled that by saying it has not been a secret. And therefore, the Movie is not showing something new for the first time. Thats serious enough, right there.
Yet I'd like to address the premise of The Secret from another perspective, which is on the very grounds of its nature. The Law of Attraction.
Yes, allow me to refer to this as the Con-Tru-versy series. Basically, I'll be posting several
entries on the subject. Will they be objective? That's for your opinion. There is no shame in sharing the fact that I find no necessity in trusting in Law of Attraction. Yet, I'll seriously
humor engage it.
This is just an announcement of the coming Con-Tru-versy. Shortly I'll be posting in random intervals my eager flames of scrutiny. Oh what fun it will be.
But for now, let me here from you. How do you feel about the Law of Attraction?

Hmmm… From what i got about the law of attraction is that we influence our destiny by subconciously driving ourselves in the right direction. I think this is totally plausible. We date who we need to in order to teach ourselves what kind of person we really need, we play with fire till we learn that we really do get brnt from it, and we most certainly are drawn to the lessons we need to learn. This Idea makes perfect sense to me.
Loose translative pluralistic fodder for the Gaian/New Agers. Could be a potential tool to gain footing to another level of consciousness if used in the “right mind”. Very narcissistic unless you have “the genie” do the bidding for everyone else. On the whole, a very sloppy and old realization in new wrapping for today's uber materialistic Western consciousness. I can't wait to have 10 SUV's and yacht and sex everyday disease free with a different and exotic partner! Woot!
@Carl: You're certainly joined by a great many others who feel as you do Carl. Every tool has its use. But I reserve and shall apply the right to test how it burns. ;-)

Looking forward to seeing the rest of your post. In regards to the laws of attraction, as much as I know it works as I have witnessed it in my life and still do on a daily basis. I would like to add that its not as clear cut as it may seem. Many people desire many things usually without looking deeper within the self to realise why they want certain things. Even love and happiness. They fail to look at the reasons why these things they are after elude their path at every turn. Sometimes with close observation of the self, looking within oneself, finding what it is in ones make up, in ones belief system etc., that is stopping them from reaching their full potential, will not only assist them in realising their true self and potential, but, also makes one aware of ones own pitfalls. In that we get to know our reactions and triggers so well we are able to work within ourselves to release old programming that is stopping us from achieving our true potential. This that I am describing very lightly I may add, I feel is a key element in the laws of attraction that is not talked about. So people begin to envision the car the love of their lives etc , just to fail to see the end results.
Clearing one's vehicle will assist in removing what bars the flow of creative energy in ones life, assisting them to manifest their hearts desire.
That's a very skim the surface opinion of mine.

the secret is always included in the NEXT step of unfolding oneself to oneself…..pelodom.com….as life is hilarious! (from my perspective)…hold hands, take a step off the highest mountain …free falling into and through the heart of reality….i thought i knew the secret once, then i awoke to secrets everywhere…so i went back to sleep.
